My Hamilton Beach Immersion Blender

I’ve had a Hamilton Beach immersion blender for a few years now, and I absolutely love it. It comes in handy for so many things and simplifies my cooking life in several ways.

I’d actually thought about buying one for quite a long time: years, to be honest. Now I can tell you that I wish I’d bought it long before I did.  Having it available in my kitchen for so many tasks has been such an asset, and for many reasons. Now that I have it, I’d like to tell you why I’m so happy to have it on hand in my kitchen.

Blending soups right on the stovehamilton beach immersion blender

My immersion blender came into my life just before Thanksgiving about two or three years ago. I was trying a new recipe for butternut squash soup. (As discussed in an earlier article, I used vegetable bouillon instead of chicken bouillon.) It was easy to see that having an immersion blender would simplify the process dramatically.

I went on line and checked out the many options available there and decided on the Hamilton Beach model 59765. I am so glad I did, because I was right–it did make the process easier for me. This recipe required putting the soup, by batches, into a blender.  I tend to be somewhat clumsy, I’m sure there would have been a mess for me to clean up by the time I finished however many batches I’d have had to do!

Instead, all that was necessary was for me to:

  1. put the proper blending tool at the end of the blender
  2. plug the blender in
  3. put the blender into the soup mixture, and
  4. turn it on!

I can’t describe how pleased I was with the results! I’m pretty sure it shortened the amount of time I needed to complete that step. It was so simple, and I’m pretty grateful I came up with this idea. As a matter of fact, I’ve actually used my immersion blender in soups when it wasn’t called for. It produced a more consistent flavor throughout the soup, and I really like that!

Easily Cleaned and Stored

Another benefit that I love about my Hamilton Beach immersion blender is that it’s so easy to clean. I personally don’t have a dishwasher, and that’s not a problem with an immersion blender. You simply remove the blending tool, put it in your dishwater, clean it with your cleaning tool, and rinse. Voila! The job is done. If you do have a dishwasher, you simply put it on your top rack and that’s it!

Another great advantage to the immersion blender is that it’s so easy to store. I literally keep mine in a drawer in my kitchen, along with its attachments. This means less clutter on my kitchen counter, and this, as I’m sure you know, is a plus.

Its Portability

I don’t need to tell you how much trouble it is to take your standing blender out of your kitchen, not to mention out of your house.  The traditional standing blender is big, heavy, and clumsy; these qualities don’t lend themselves to moving your standing blender easily. An immersion blender is small and light. If it’s necessary to take it out of your home, you simply bring it and whatever attachment/s you need. In addition, there’s little to no worrying about it possibly breaking while being transported. Since it’s so small, it easily lies on a car seat, and that’s that!  So, as you can see, transporting it is absolutely not difficult at all.

Its Versatility and Ease of Use

You might be concerned with how many uses an immersion blender has, but this is something you needn’t worry about. This is a tool that has quite a bit of versatility!

As a matter of fact, I can see that the immersion blender is better for small batch items. You can blend your own home made salad dressings, or even make mayonnaise.

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve hesitated to use my standing blender for recipes that make small batches.  I didn’t want to have to go to the trouble of getting the blended material out of the blades that are deep in the blender’s pitcher.

Using my immersion blender for these kinds of recipes makes it much easier to deal with this kind of issue. Since the immersion blender blades are smaller, there’s less trouble removing the blended substance.

Another great feature of an immersion blender is that it isn’t so loud. My immersion blender isn’t totally silent, but the decibel level is definitely lower than that of my standing blender.

Making Mayonnaise–Amazingly Easy!

In the past, I’d read recipes for mayonnaise; I tended to shy away from attempting it because it seemed complicated.  To put it into a nutshell, I was nervous about failing.

However, looking at the mayonnaise recipes that included the immersion blender looked so incredibly easy. So I decided to take the dive and give it a try; I was amazed at how simple it was!

Using this recipe, the whole process, from assembling the ingredients and tools to having the completed product, took around five minutes! All I had to do was put the five ingredients (I didn’t include the black pepper) into a small bowl.  Then I inserted the immersion blender into the ingredients, and turn it on.

I had the finished mayonnaise in seconds–literally less than a minute. The flavor was just slightly tangy, but not overwhelmingly so. I tried it on a sandwich, and I was pleased with the results. I suggest you give it a try! You’ll be amazed at how effortless it is. It will store, covered, in your refrigerator for two weeks.
